I Know Where My Help Comes From

By: Malika Bennett

Break out! Wow it’s 2:45am in the morning and I finally broke out of this sickness aka stomach virus that had me knocked out for nearly 3 days. All I can say is thank you all for the prayers and love that some of you took the time to send me via email, text message, Facebook, etc – I really appreciate you!

The devil wanted me to think that no one cared and that “I am always there for others but when I need support and love – no one is there for me.” Crazy, right! (The stupid things you think about when you are sick). And then I prayed about it and the Holy Spirit must have been working on my behalf because he knocked that negative spirit called “self pitty” right up from underneath me and showed me there are people who are wishing me well and praying for me. The crazy thing is everyone who reached out to me is a believer and prayer warrior. And thankfully, I am healed from the most awful stomach virus I’ve had in years. Thanks be to God! Yay!

So from every life experience, I try and get the lesson. The lesson or reminder from this situation is to surround yourself with prayer warriors and believers in God – the Holy Spirit has a special relationship with them (because they choose to connect with Him) and can send them to you when you need them most. Also take the time to cultivate your own relationship with God because even when people are not around He has your back because He cares for you and will never leave you lonely. Not only is that something the bible teaches but it is something I can co-sign from my own life experiences. One thing I know for sure is “I KNOW WHERE MY HELP COMES FROM.” God is always there for me & you if we just call on Him.

Psalms 121 (NIV)

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord watches over you—
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.

The Lord will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.
